Abstract

Emotional intelligence is a way of knowing how one feels in a situation. And this emotional intelligence is used for self and for others also. People who are having high emotional intelligence can help others who are suffering from distress and they can help them to regulate their feelings from negative to positive. Emotional intelligence can either be an ability that can be enhanced, or it is a trait that cannot be enhanced, and people get it by birth just like hearing ability or any other ability which one has by birth. This chapter discusses all these aspects. It is said that high emotional quotient people include at least these three skills, and they are emotional alertness, the efficacy by which anyone can recognize and name one's own emotions, and the efficacy where one can tackle those emotions and implement them.

Introduction

The emotional intelligence of a person can be measure via different methods it can be done with the help of psychological questionnaires and it can be measured with the help of devices that can calculate the physical movement of a person like heart rate, respiration, and many other and all these methods are discussed in detail in this paper. One term is there that is called synthetic emotions and this emotion is called synthetic because it is not real, and the emotions are induced within computers with the help of algorithms and this is visible to us on a computer with the help of embodied agents. All these devices work mostly with the help of internet devices can also be called ICT and excess use of this is affecting the emotional intelligence level of people, many are becoming internet addictive, and many are having psychological distress.

The design of recent human-computer interfaces should reflect the observation that humans inflict the social life and personal behavioral routine of their own into the electronic computer to facilitate a high number of interactions which will be like a human. Emotions which are an important effect of the individual, for communicating with amongst is acknowledged as the highest degree important when it comes to all other ways between one another. Emotional Intelligence can be roughly defined either as Trait Emotion or Ability Emotion (Maillefer et al., 2018). We can say that generally Trait EQ is connected with the personality of a person and mostly it concentrates on the emotional self-alertness of any person. This can be calculated via scales that are used for scoring the self-alertness value. It is said generally that ability EQ results are quite high for the people who know feelings more than the people who have faced it in the situations of real-life (Fiori and Maillefer, 2018).

We can say that Emotional intelligence (Emotionalism or EI) is the efficacy to recognize and manage people’s emotions and other emotions. It is also true that the contrive of EI was firstly introduced by (Salovey and Mayer, 1990) as efficacy to reason and solve the problems throughout the emotional domain, which is quite similar to other abilities like the mental ability.

We can say that Emotionalism is more or less a psychological term, but we can relate to it in a way because there are industries that are getting affected by Emotionalism, and in another way, we can relate this term to computer science, because instead of psychology the emotional state of a people can also be judged or calculated by the physical state of a person (Maillefer et al., 2018).

Other than basic emotions there are culturally-specific emotions, there are also ‘higher mental emotions. These emotions are similar to universal emotions which are basic of all emotions, but like every other thing there are also variations in the emotions, that are normally stated and versed by a variety of cultures, and any kind of facial expression was not associated with them. Complex Feelings take longer to develop than any basic feelings and removing that feeling from our mind and heart away. Let’s take the example of romantic love, this kind of emotion usually start slow and then gradually increases during a period may it be a period of weeks or months in people, however, surprise which we can consider as the basic feeling is a very quick reaction to any particular event. Surprise emotion can easily fall into the category of jealousy, pride, embarrassment, and guilt (Fiori and Maillefer, 2018).

Feelings can be categorized into Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary feelings. Feelings that evoke from the first tract are referred to as ‘primary feeling’, in other words, our primitive feeling, such as happy, sad, etc. The secondary feeling can be defined as the feelings that require more rational thought, such as sorrow, disappointment, and satisfaction, and tertiary feeling, such as liking, caring, compassion, and tenderness.

A human can express emotion in many ways such as writing it in a language that is a powerful medium for expressing feeling. Masses frequently express their feeling with the help of stories, verses, and private culture. Another compelling method for communication and expression of feeling or emotions is through spoken language, external body part expressions such as face and gestures are one of the firsthand ways in which we can notice the feeling in others motion and Body Language.
