Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has ushered in a new era of education, requiring educators to adapt and innovate rapidly. In this chapter proposal, the authors aim to provide educators with 21st-century innovative strategies that not only create equitable and socially-emotionally strong classroom environments but also highlights the needs of ESL/ELL (English as a second language/English language learners) students. The goal is to encourage student choice and voice, improve learner confidence, and bridge the educational gaps exacerbated by the pandemic. In the post-COVID era, it is imperative for educators to equip themselves with innovative strategies that not only promote equitable and socially-emotionally strong classroom environments but also cater to the unique needs of ESL/ELL students. This chapter proposal aims to provide practical insights and tools that empower educators to celebrate diversity, foster inclusion, and enhance the educational experience for all students, regardless of their linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
