Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being applied in a diversity of healthcare contexts to improve or develop a range of skills, including communication, health coaching, moral development, therapeutic interventions, empathetic response and activities, therapeutic bond. In this work, we suggest a governance model aimed at igniting further discourse on the governance of this technology while also attempting to resolve the ethical and legal quandaries that arise from applying AI in healthcare. But mixed in with the excitement comes cynicism, with some warning against having unrealistic expectations. This article examines the most recent developments in medical AI as well as the potential applications for general practice in the future. The results support a rethinking of empathy as a human-AI intelligent caring system with six components. Future investigations into the interaction between AI technology and compassion may enable new and creative approaches to improve healing relationships, expand healing spaces, and enrich clinical practice, education, and learning.
