Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the current status of social and sustainable finance in a global context. A detailed bibliometric analysis was done on Vos Viewer software for the documents fetched with keywords social and sustainable finance retrieved from the Scopus database. Content analysis was done on 50 Indian companies based on Nifty Fifty (Indices of National Stock Exchange of India) based on the themes retrieved from 978 documents in bibliometric analysis. The study found the dynamic and geographically diverse research landscape for Social and Sustainable Finance. Initially dominated by the USA, now moving towards countries like China and India. A strong association between “Sustainable Finance” and keywords like “ESG” and “sustainable development” was found. The study also finds that Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), corporate governance, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) are the most frequently disclosed themes in the annual reports of Indian companies.
