Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Employment Opportunities in the Indian IT Job Market

Abstract

The Indian IT sector is going through significant change due to the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence. This study focuses on the impact of AI on job opportunities in the IT industry in India, looking at new job creation, concerns over job loss, and changes in skills required. In a quantitative cross-sectional survey of 363 IT professionals and industry experts, this research shows that AI adoption positively and negatively impacts workforce relationships, resulting in replacements and the emergence of advanced cognitive and digital skills. Key statistical analyses, including chi-square tests, one-way ANOVA, and regression, underscore the critical relationship between AI adoption and job dynamics within India's IT sector. According to the findings, reskilling programs, supported by proactive actions such as facilitating policies, are necessary to cushion against the negatives of AI while capitalising upon its prospects for employment growth and innovation.
