Abstract

This chapter explores the transition of Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) through a digital transformation framework, emphasizing the need for culturally sensitive approaches that honour integrity and context of indigenous knowledge. This widens the potential of digital tools to enhance accessibility, foster innovation, and bridge generational knowledge gaps, while addressing critical issues such as intellectual property rights, data sovereignty, and ethical representation. Through a problem-based pedagogy, strategies for integrating IKS into modern digital ecosystems, promoting inclusive knowledge practices and global sustainability are outlined. The objectives propose a digital framework for transitioning IKS using digital platforms; to identify the role of digital transformation in preserving, transmitting, and revitalizing IKS; and to discuss ethical considerations, challenges and practical implementation in Higher Education (HE). This sparked debate about a redesigned role for digital framework education and authenticity. Indigenous Knowledge Systems Digital Transformation Framework (IKSDTF)is seen as having the ability to preserve, transmit, and revitalise IKS.
