Abstract

Bioinformatics is the new area of science to study various living organisms, plants and animals. Bioremediation is the removal of toxic pollutants from the environment using microorganisms. Many of the databases are available online and can be used for the study of the microorganism genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics. This chapter mainly focuses the uses of recent databases and tools for the exploration of microorganisms.

Bioinformatic Tools For The Study Of Microorganisms

Identification and characterization of microorganisms is based on the molecular based methods. Interpretation of the results is based on the bioinformatics tools. Different databases are used for the microbial communities’ identification and omics study. Table 1 shows the list of databases that can be explored for the bioremediation study associated with microorganisms.
