Abstract

This chapter explores the use of ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence tool that rapidly processes user inputs, offering valuable support for educational tasks. Given the growing integration of AI in education, it is essential for pre-service teachers—who will be future educators—to understand and utilize ChatGPT effectively, adhering to ethical guidelines for professional development. The study investigates how pre-service chemistry teachers design lesson plans with the aid of ChatGPT and gathers their reflections on these experiences. Six pre-service chemistry teachers participated, each creating a lesson plan by giving specific commands to ChatGPT. These lesson plans focused on chemistry curriculum objectives and aimed to develop a chosen type of intelligence from the theory of multiple intelligences. Following the lesson plan development, semi-structured interviews were conducted to capture participants' insights into their experiences.
