Abstract

This chapter is mainly focused on the opening of public libraries, rules and regulations placed by government policies, and the condition of public libraries in the pandemic and post-pandemic.

Background

Coronavirus is not a new life form to human beings which comprises of a large family of viruses that are common in both human beings as well as animals like camels, cattle, cats, and bats (Decaro, N, et.al, 2020). There are seven different strains of coronavirus report to cause an effect to the human beings which are 229E, NL63 (alpha coronavirus); OC43, HKU1 (beta coronavirus); MERS-CoV (the beta coronavirus that causes Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS); SARS-CoV (the beta coronavirus that causes a severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS); SARS-CoV-2 (the novel coronavirus that causes coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19) (Chan, J. F.,et.al, 2015).

The first corona case reported in December 2019 in china Wuhan officially reported to WHO regarding this outbreak in January. The first fatal case reported on January 11th 2020 and migration of Chinese New Year fuelled the epidemic on 23rd January 2020 Wuhan went to lockdown later it extends to other cities in China (Singhal T., 2020). Later discovered the symptoms of the population who doesn’t have travel history to china recognised the human to human transmission. Most of the cases the COVID-19 infection was asymptomatic up to two weeks which increase the probability of the cause infection to new peoples (V Rasmussen, S. A.,et.al, 2020). As per the china reports by 05-03-2020; 80,000 cases were reported in china and 16,000 cases were reported over 87 countries, but surprisingly the cases in china drastically reduced and cases in other countries increased which led to applying the precautionary measures to the public such as lockdown, wearing the mask, using sanitizer implied to control the pandemic (Al‐Shamsi, H. O., et.al, 2020). Due to the corona pandemic, public organizations were closed. Which include public libraries, theatres, markets; public organizations all were closed to control the pandemic.

HPC: It is a kind of practice gathering all computing power to solve big problems in science, engineering, and business.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome: A contagious fatal respiratory illness caused by coronavirus.
