Conducting research in accordance with a set of values and norms intended to safeguard participants' rights and welfare is known as ethical research. Throughout the research process, researchers must uphold honesty, integrity, and transparency (Resnik, 2011). Research on social media poses particular ethical problems. The invasion of people’s privacy is one of the main worries. Researchers frequently come across information shared by users without their express consent when they access and examine data from social media platforms. This calls into question the morality of data collection and use.

It is imperative that privacy be respected in the digital sphere as it is a fundamental human right .Research on social media raises ethical issues, especially when it comes to privacy invasion. Concerns regarding the moral gathering and application of data are raised by the fact that researchers frequently access and examine user data without express consent. In the digital sphere, it is essential to uphold privacy as a fundamental human right. Careful thought and adherence to ethical standards are necessary to strike a balance between the necessity for data and the preservation of individuals' privacy (Boyd & Crawford, 2012).

The conflict between the need for data and the need to protect people’s privacy must be considered by researchers.
