Abstract

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) present a universal framework for addressing pressing global challenges, including poverty, inequality, climate change, and environmental degradation. While global and national governance structures are essential, regional governance plays a unique and pivotal role in bridging the gap between international commitments and local implementation. This chapter, titled “Recommendations for Strengthening Regional Governance for the Sustainable Development Goals,” examines the critical importance of regional governance in advancing sustainable development. It explores the challenges faced by regional organizations, such as resource disparities, geopolitical tensions, institutional capacity gaps, and external pressures like climate change and economic instability. Drawing on theoretical foundations, case studies, and emerging trends, the chapter identifies opportunities to strengthen regional governance through innovative approaches such as leveraging digital technologies, and engaging in cross-regional collaborations.
