Abstract

This study describes the development and examination of a customized post-occupancy evaluation (POE) software application to improve FM and students' exposure to and use of real-time data. To adapt that facility management could involve students in class activities and enhance their perception of the validation process, it is necessary to demonstrate that gathering info in real-time and exploiting is feasible. A mobile application was built to gather information on occupants' perceptions and likewise, real-time realignment of the data store. Physical parameters were used to guide the selection of lighting and space usage parameters that corresponded with perceived indoor conditions. During the pilot project, an immediate representation of the gathered data was given, illustrating how the POE app functions and what more statistical assessment can be done further. The prototype's use in a real-world university building demonstrates the system's adaptability, viability, and capacity for gathering and analyzing real-time building performance data.

2. Background

IoT, cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence are examples of the ongoing technical advancements that have steadily enveloped people with technology (Tien, 2017). In order to construct technologically sophisticated and intelligent settings, it is essential to establish intuitive interfaces and systems with some level of intelligence, the capacity to identify and respond to human needs in a discrete and frequently imperceptible way. As a result, the paradigm known as intelligence services were created. Ambient intelligence is used in conjunction with a digital environment to help people become conscious of their actions, wants, feelings, and gestures (Cook et al., 2009).
