Abstract

This chapter seeks to analyze the ethical dimensions of data collection, usage, and sharing. It identifies key challenges and opportunities for businesses and consumers in navigating the delicate balance between privacy and innovation. The chapter also proposes ethical frameworks and best practices for responsible data management. To address the objectives of this study comprehensively, a diverse methodology was implemented. A historical analysis of the developments of the markets and the growing concerns of ethics was undertaken. A critical component of the study was the in-depth analysis of legal regulations concerning the protection of consumer privacy, especially in the technologically advanced markets in India in comparison to the international best practices. The chapter provides policymakers and businesses with practical recommendations, thereby bridging the divide between theory and practice.
