Abstract

Drawing on a theoretical framework, this study aims to understand the impact of equity as perceived by employees in the airline industry through employee engagement activities and job redesigning that have been introduced to determine the level of motivation among frontline staff members working with Indian Airlines Jet Airways vs. Indigo. The research aimed to determine how motivation levels are influenced by engagement, job crafting, and work-life advocacy. This chapter summarizes the 400 employee survey outcomes with an empirical statistical approach. The findings suggest that Indigo Airlines scores much higher than Jet Airways in all three dimensions. Indigo had significantly higher perceived equity than Jet Airways (89% versus 30%) and was more satisfied with its engagement activities than the other service providers in this sector. Job redesigning, too, occurred a lot more frequently at Indigo compared to fellow airline companies, as they scored a similar score of above par on effectiveness while cost-effectiveness scored below par.
