Abstract

This chapter carefully analyzes the state of the circular economy's implementation in Indian municipalities, paying particular attention to a number of important aspects such as the creation of an implementation model, the identification of crucial success criteria, and awareness assessments. The study examines stakeholders' understanding of the circular economy through a thorough literature review and empirical analysis. It finds that stakeholders have a modest level of awareness, with substantial variances across demographic characteristics like gender, age, education, and hierarchical positions. Furthermore, the study utilizes techniques such as TOPSIS Simos and statistical analyses to identify nine crucial success factors that are essential for the successful implementation of the circular economy. These factors include innovation, financial incentives, waste management strategies, maintenance and repair, and more.
