Transforming Healthcare Through AI and Robotic Communication Systems

Abstract

Robotic systems integrated with artificial intelligence are transforming communication within health care and between different actors in health care. These improvements have significantly improved service delivery in the healthcare sector. This chapter reviews the evolution, applications, and implications of robotic systems in healthcare to consider their contribution to improving patient education and healthcare communication levels. Progress in AI and machine learning allows robotic systems to perform anything from simple patient interaction to complex surgery, thus addressing the increased demand for health services underpinning the global scarcity of health professionals. The benefits are enormous in terms of efficiency and precision; however, the challenges in adopting such technologies bring ethical considerations, data privacy issues, and a possible depersonalization of care.
