Virtual and Augmented Reality for Immersive Learning Experiences: Practical Applications and Challenges

Abstract

The incorporation of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) in educational environments has fundamentally transformed the manner in which learners interact with educational material, offering immersive encounters that surpass conventional teaching approaches. This chapter examines the pragmatic uses of VR and AR in the development of dynamic and captivating learning environments. We shall illustrate the effectiveness of these technologies in improving understanding and memory of intricate ideas by including case studies from different educational settings. This discussion will focus on the utilization of VR and AR in virtual laboratories, simulations, field trips, and cultural immersion.
