Abstract

Zero-day attacks exploit undisclosed vulnerabilities before patches are available, posing severe cybersecurity threats. With Generative AI, attackers can automate vulnerability discovery, exploit generation, and adaptive strategies. This chapter explores how AI enhances both offensive and defensive cybersecurity measures. While AI strengthens security defenses, it also accelerates vulnerability exploitation, lowering the barrier to sophisticated attacks. Through case studies and technical insights, this chapter examines AI's dual role in cybersecurity, highlighting its potential for protection and risks in adversaries' hands. Finally, mitigation strategies and ethical considerations are discussed for responsible AI integration in cybersecurity.
