How to Adopt a Book

Step 1: Request a Free Examination Copy

Professor’s considering an IGI Global title for adoption into their class may request a complimentary 7-day full-text electronic examination copy. To qualify for the complimentary exam copy, professor’s must submit the form below or contact the Marketing Department directly at marketing@igi-global.com. Details that must be outlined in the request include:

  • Full name
  • Affiliation
  • Email address
  • Publication title and/or ISBN
  • Course name and number
  • Semester the course will be provided
  • Estimated number of students to enroll (optional)
  • Start date for exam access to begin (optional; if not specified, exam access will begin immediately upon approval)

The request will then be promptly reviewed, and upon approval, an email will be sent containing access permissions and instructions.

Step 2: Send an Official Request

After 7 days, access to the e-book will be disabled. At this point, the instructors can decide if they would like to adopt the title into their course.

Professors deciding to adopt the book into their course will need to reach back out to the Marketing Department at marketing@igi-global.com.

For instructors who decide not to adopt the book into their course and would like further assistance finding a title better suited to their class, please feel free to contact the Marketing Team at marketing@igi-global.com.

Undecided? There is no time restraint for choosing to adopt a text.

Step 3: Ordering Information and Discounts

Domestic & International:

Upon contacting the Marketing Department, instructors will receive a unique coupon code. This code will allow their students to take up to 50% off the price of the title. Electronic and print formats are available for purchase and the discount will work on both. Students will have to purchase their copies directly from the IGI Global Online Bookstore. They may follow these simple purchasing instructions:

Please travel to the IGI Global Online Bookstore found at the following URL: http://www.igi-global.com/. Search the title of the publication. Choose either print or electronic format. Add the title to the shopping cart and begin the steps to complete the purchase. Step 1 asks for shipping information. Step 2 asks for credit card information. During Step 2, there will be a box in the upper right hand corner labeled “Coupons”. Enter the unique code provided by the instructor and click “Add+”. The discount will be added to the total found below. Complete purchase.

IGI Global will track the number of titles purchased for the course. Once 10 copies have been sold, the instructor will be provided with one desk copy at no additional cost. The instructor will need to specify in which format (print or electronic) they would like to receive the complimentary desk copy. Additional copies may be purchased with the discount they received. The complimentary desk copy is only available the first year the title is adopted.

Domestic Only:

Domestic (U.S. and Canadian) Professors may also opt to order the titles through their university bookstore. If this option is selected, the instructor will need to provide their marketing team member with the bookstore’s contact information. The bookstore will order directly from IGI Global and the students will purchase the print copy through the university bookstore.

Students wishing to receive the electronic version of the title may still order directly through IGI Global’s Online Bookstore and receive access instructions. For further assistance, please contact Customer Service at cust@igi-global.com.
