Abstract
The threat of climate change is due to increasing carbon emissions of manufacturing production and transportation. Currently, government is encouraging manufacturing to reduce carbon emission and conduct low carbon supply chain management (LCSCM). In order to solve the greenhouse gas emission dilemma, LCSCM is essential for manufacturing firms' stakeholders. Supply chain partners are expected to know the proper measurement of emissions to solve this problem. This chapter's aim is to review literature on how to measure LCSCM. In the past, the concept of green supply chain management (GSCM) was practiced to promote and reduce environmental risks. However, GSCM is a driver or practice to achieve environmental outcomes. The extended model of GSCM currently practices LCSCM through carbon footprint (CF) concept. In other words, LCSCM is an outcome that both interests researchers and persuades practitioners.

The Carbon Footprint, defined in a very general way, represents the amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted into the atmosphere derived from the activities of production or consumption of goods and services, and is considered one of the most important tools to quantify the emissions of these gases. GHGs, defined in the Kyoto protocol in 1997, form a permanent layer in the middle part of the atmosphere that prevents all solar radiation that is returned by the earth from leaving, thereby causing the temperature under the layer to increase ( Espíndola & Valderrama, 2012 ).

Strategies for Greening Enterprise IT: Creating Business Value and Contributing to Environmental Sustainability
It is a measure of the impact of activities of an organization or an individual have on the environment, and in particular climate change. It is the total set of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused by an organization, an event or a product. For simplicity of reporting, it is often expressed in terms of the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2), or its equivalent of other GHGs, emitted; it has units of tones (or kg) of carbon dioxide equivalent. A carbon footprint is made up of the sum of two parts, the primary footprint and the secondary footprint. The primary footprint is a measure of direct emissions of CO2 resulting from consumed electrical energy and one has direct control of these. The secondary footprint is a measure of the indirect CO2 emissions from the whole lifecycle of products we use - those associated with their manufacture and eventual breakdown.
