The International Journal of Virtual Communities and Social Networking (IJVCSN) provides a forum for researchers, practitioners, and users to study and discuss technical, social and legal issues in this fast changing environment. IJVCSN strives to be an inter-disciplinary journal that draws upon research from different fields such as information systems, computer science, sociology, and psychology.

The primary objective of the International Journal of Virtual Communities and Social Networking (IJVCSN) is to provide comprehensive coverage and understanding of the social, cultural, organizational, human, and cognitive issues related to the virtual communities and social networking. These issues include design, implementation, participation, and use of virtual communities and social networks. The secondary objective of this journal is to broaden the overall body of knowledge regarding participation of individuals, groups and organizations in these communities and networks, by providing an outlet for scholarly research in the area.

Article manuscripts receive the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International

A one-time Article Processing Charge (APC) of US $2,300 must be paid AFTER the manuscript has gone
through the full double-blind peer review process and the Editor(s)-in-Chief at his/her/their full discretion

Virtual communities and social networking groups have become very important, with the advent of ubiquitous and easy-to -use content creating software. Organizations are beginning to use these technologies for a variety of activities – from the use of SecondLife.com as a market research tool, to the use of social networking sites for collaborative content creation within the firm. What are the benefits of using these applications? What should organizations do to facilitate the use of these technologies towards specific firm objectives? Clearly, there are a number of important issues that need to be understood, in order that these technologies can be applied to, and their benefits harnessed for, a variety of functions and tasks. The International Journal of Virtual Communities and Social Networking is a much-needed forum for researchers and practitioners to address these important issues.
