The International Journal of Applied Management Sciences and Engineering (IJAMSE) is a refereed, multidisciplinary journal that publishes high-quality articles on management sciences and engineering with special emphasis in human resources management and production engineering. IJAMSE provides discussion and the exchange of information on principles, strategies, models, techniques, methodologies, and applications of management sciences in the field of industry, commerce, and services. The journal communicates the latest developments on the subject of management worldwide. IJAMSE links management sciences and engineering disciplines to promote sustainable development. It seeks cultural and geographic diversity in studies of HRM and engineering and uses that impact organizational communications, change processes, and work practices, reflecting the diversity of societal and infrastructural conditions. The journal is interested in research that transcends the boundaries of single academic subjects and managerial functions. Interdisciplinary scholarship and commentaries that challenge the paradigms and assumptions of individual disciplines or functions are welcome; however, such papers should be grounded in conceptual or empirical literature.

Mission and Scope

The mission of the International Journal of Applied Management Sciences and Engineering (IJAMSE) is to provide a channel of communication to disseminate knowledge between academics, researchers, and managers. This journal serves as a useful reference for academics, researchers, managers, engineers, and other professionals in related matters with management sciences and engineering. Contributors are encouraged to identify the theoretical and practical implications of the work for management and engineering across organizations, from single to large organizations.

Editor(s)-in-Chief Biography

Carolina F. Machado received her PhD degree in Management Sciences (Organizational and Politics Management / Human Resources Management) from the University of Minho in 1999, and Master degree in Management (Strategic Human Resource Management) from Technical University of Lisbon in 1994. Teaching in the Human Resources Management subjects since 1989 at University of Minho, she is since 2004 Associated Professor, with experience and research interest areas in the field of Human Resources Management, International Human Resources Management, Training and Development, Management Change and Knowledge Management. She is Head of Management Department, at Economic and Management School at University of Minho, as well as Head of Human Resources Management Master and Head of Human Resources Management Work Group at University of Minho.
J. Paulo Davim ( received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1997, M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering (materials and manufacturing processes) in 1991, Mechanical Engineering degree (5 years) in 1986, from the University of Porto (FEUP), the Aggregate title (Full Habilitation) from the University of Coimbra in 2005 and the D.Sc. from London Metropolitan University in 2013. He is Senior Chartered Engineer by the Portuguese Institution of Engineers with an MBA and Specialist title in Engineering and Industrial Management. He is also Eur Ing by FEANI-Brussels and Fellow (FIET) by IET-London. Currently, he is Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Aveiro, Portugal. He has more than 30 years of teaching and research experience in Manufacturing, Materials, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, with special emphasis in Machining & Tribology. He also has an interest in Management, Engineering Education and Higher Education for Sustainability. He has guided large numbers of postdoc, Ph.D. and master’s students, as well as has coordinated and participated in several financed research projects. He has received several scientific awards. He has worked as evaluator of projects for ERC-European Research Council and other international research agencies as well as examiner of Ph.D. thesis for many universities in different countries. He is the Editor in Chief of several international journals, Guest Editor of journals, books Editor, book Series Editor and Scientific Advisor for many international journals and conferences. Presently, he is an Editorial Board member of 30 international journals and acts as reviewer for more than 100 prestigious Web of Science journals. In addition, he has also published as editor (and co-editor) more than 120 books and as author (and co-author) more than 10 books, 80 book chapters and 400 articles in journals and conferences (more than 250 articles in journals indexed in Web of Science core collection/h-index 52+/9000+ citations, SCOPUS/h-index 57+/11000+ citations, Google Scholar/h-index 73+/17000+).
