This study aimed to test the effectiveness of the 'Kahoot!' gamification program. It is one of the first studies of its kind to be conducted in a university in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). An experimental design was adopted, followed by interview-style surveys. The sample comprised two, randomly selected groups who were undertaking the Grammar module of the English Diploma at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, KSA. One group, allocated to use Google Forms for their assignments, consisted of 32 female students. The other group, consisting of 32 female students, was allocated to use ‘Kahoot!’ (gamification) for their assignments. The results indicated no significant differences between the groups in terms of their grammar development. However, the impact factor was higher in the Kahoot! group, and the students in this group were very positive in describing their experience.

This study aims to show the early mixed-methods survey results from shifting an internship program within a Liberal Arts college to fully online during COVID-19. Results identified and highlighted some struggles students faced, yet showed that, despite COVID-19, students still found value in their internship experiences regardless of them being moved online.

The present study was designed to determine the extent to which political trust in government serves as a judgment heuristic in predicting readiness to comply with governmental restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through an online study of 1,429 respondents, we found that trust in government and the evaluation of government actions during the COVID-19 pandemic were the strongest predictors of readiness to comply with government restrictions aimed at mitigating the pandemic (in addition to the previous restriction-compliant behaviour of the respondent). This pattern of results shows that government-related judgments play an important role in predicting one's readiness to engage in mitigating actions in the future. These two variables seem to be central in terms of uniting all the variables which potentially predict mitigating behaviour: an evaluation of the government’s competence, benevolence, integrity, and the perceived risk of the government’s actions with respect to oneself and one’s family, as well as with respect to the evaluation of economic prospects.

This paper presents a cybersecurity assessment model that can be used to determine the current level of protection of e-services and to support its future development. The model is distinguished by its comprehensiveness, flexibility, and usability. In terms of comprehensiveness, the model integrates various cybersecurity measures recommended by international and national organizations and by academic researchers. In terms of flexibility, it structures these measures into the four-domain framework of technology, organization, people, and environment. The model also structures the assessment into levels based on the dimensions of importance, strategy consideration, and practical implementation. The usability of the model is illustrated by its application to three different Saudi organizations concerned with e-services. This work will be useful to researchers for the future development of cybersecurity assessments, and to professionals for practical applications.

The significant finding shows that the students’ psychological readiness has a strong positive association with the online learning environment to ensure quality education. In response, ambitious countries need to establish their own cyberworld strategic directions to maintain an active role in this world. This paper is concerned with developing generic structured national strategic directions for the cyberworld. For this purpose, the paper reviews key sources on the matter, and develop the targeted directions for the future. The key sources considered are associated with the international level, and they include the UN and ITU; the national level, and they include the USA and Germany; and the people’s level, involving people’s requirements and responsibilities. The views were structured according to the five domains of “strategy, technology, organization, people, and the environment: STOPE”. Within these five domains, 18 issues were identified, and subsequently they were refined into 59 cyberworld strategic directions. It is hoped that the outcome would be useful to researchers and planners in the field.

This study adopts Wenger's (1998) community of practice (CoP) framework to understand the relationships and professional learning community formed at an information technology call center at a large research university in the United States. Forming CoP in the workplace can facilitate organizational knowledge sharing and improve employee performance. In this study, 14 indicators are used to investigate the phenomena of a community of practice at an IT call center. Data on key features of a community of practice was collected from multiple sources, including on-site observations, surveys, interviews, and documents and artifacts. A social network analysis was performed to reveal the connections among employees at the IT call center. The findings indicate that a community of practice was formed at the IT call center based on the Wenger's CoP indicators. These determining features can be used to evaluate the successful adoption of a community of practice within an organization as a means to enhance informal workplace learning and facilitate professional development.

Distance education and the notion of ‘university of the cloud’ have been gaining traction across the globe. This study aimed to read and report Indian students’ perception of their distance courses - satisfaction level, problems, and prospects. It followed a mixed-method approach. Data were collected through an online survey among 500 students enrolled in several distance courses following the stratified random sampling technique. Findings revealed students were all set for a shift towards the university of cloud, and the time has come where the country can have an ambitious take-off for well-organized distance education system. Students’ key motivation behind enrolling in a distance course was to prepare themselves for a better career. Correspondence courses were the most preferred mode for distance education among students, the second being the MOOCs. Overall, students were satisfied with their courses although, their perceptions smeared with a few glitches that need appropriate attention. Finally, all these findings were students’ age group neutral.

Since the spring of 2020, practically all educational institutions have transferred instruction online. However, questions remain about whether online learning is as effective as face-to-face (F2F) one. This is especially relevant in the case of non-formal adult education, as students have competing demands on their time, established learning habits, and their relationship with a training provider is short-term. This paper compares results of students’ evaluation of teaching (SET) collected from two adult learner cohorts of similar demographic characteristics. While both cohorts had English language courses of the same core content and volume, one studied F2F, the other online. A Likert-type questionnaire form is used for the analysis. Analysis of the results from both groups reveals no statistically significant differences in students’ opinions. Moreover, students are consistent in their overall favorable attitude to both learning formats. A very slight preference towards F2F format is detected in some aspects of the course.

This study explored how students in two small groups of three might use their smartphones to collaboratively write a short story outside of the classroom over several weeks. The researchers gathered data from group interviews and online written researcher-participant chats. With minimal support, the students organised themselves enthusiastically for the FB task. Their perceptions of the task were positive, the students feeling comfortable with the FB medium and with each other. Student agency was pivotal in creating an informal social affinity and smart learning space, suggestive of extended writing affordances in other contexts.

In this article, the author provides a definition of the term financial education management. According to the author, financial education management is a process that takes place in many levels of education supervision. The aim of the study is to find out how much the financial education activities in Latvia that were implemented at school and in the country have contributed to the development of financial literacy achievements by comparing the PISA 2012 and PISA 2018 survey data. Schools that participated in PISA 2018 were also surveyed in order to find out the aspects of financial education implementation in the school. The data shows that an increase has not been achieved in financial literacy within six years. Financial literacy is highly dependent on reading and mathematical literacy. Schools use relatively few financial institutions help to educate students in the finance field. As shown the study finds it is important that schools use the education services offered by banks and NGOs as it improves students' understanding of the financial environment.

Concerns about environmental problems due to rapid economic growth have been undoubtedly increased the past few decades. The conservation of the natural environment and the satisfaction of human needs have attracted a lot of attention from individuals to policymakers. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the effects of environmental education, knowledge, information and lifestyles on ecological behavior and sustainability goals. More specifically, the emergence of a possible relationship between environmental education and sustainability and the correlation of lifestyle and individual attitude with ecological behavior constitute the research questions of our study. The researchers conducted a quantitative analysis by collecting data from 116 questionnaires. The results indicate a lack of knowledge diffusion on environment from schools whilst even though people's emotional commitment and attitude towards environment are significantly augmented, their ecological behavior is erratic in particular occasions.

Technology constantly provides tools with an educational potential, such as 360o videos. Despite the growing body of research regarding their impact on learning, primary school students are not a common target group. To fill this gap, the study compared the learning outcomes from the use of 360o videos presented using head-mounted displays (HMDs) with that of 360o videos presented using PC monitors and with printed material, having as a target group 46 students, aged 11 to 12. Virtual tours of archaeological sites was the theme of the learning content. A within-subjects research design was applied. The learning outcomes and students' enjoyment were better in the HMDs condition. However, there were no significant differences in motivation and ease of use. Immersion and subjective usefulness were greater only compared to printed material. None of the above factors had an impact on the learning outcomes. Overall, while it can be supported that 360o videos provide positive learning experiences, further studies will help to better understand their exact impact on learning.

The current COVID-19 pandemic revealed gaps in public health strategies, medical treatments, comprehensive patient safety, and human resources strategy. Implementing human resources and performance management processes that promote safety, safe decision making, and reduce medical errors is critical. Adopting methods used by high-reliability organizations (HRO) may reduce medical errors and improve patient safety. Qualitative focus groups were used to collect data around creating organizational cultures focused on safety. Virtual teams have become increasingly common, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Various industries and organizations have transitioned to working remotely, and project management is no exception. Incorporating a dispersed team into the context of international projects further affects the project implementation, creating both benefits and challenges. This study examines the topic of international project management within dispersed teams and focuses on five core challenges, including: 1) language and communication issues, 2) time zone differences, 3) sociocultural differences, 4) motivation and negotiation issues, and 5) political issues. Using the five challenges as a foundation, study authors conducted semi-structured, open-ended interviews with project managers of diverse backgrounds to shed light on their experiences. Key findings from the interviews and scholarly research were utilized to generate best practices for project managers of dispersed teams spearheading global projects.

The purpose of this article is to emphasize the importance of some aspects of pedagogical work, in case of using virtual reality technology, such as the importance of educators being informed about the reasons why a student may not want to use virtual reality technology, significance of ability to understand student’s reactions during virtual reality experience, the possibility to offer alternatives and find the best solutions, so student can have the most positive and safe virtual reality learning experience. Therefore, this article raises the question of the need for a differentiated learning in the context of extended reality technologies in school education, identifying several possible alternatives such as desktop virtual reality and augmented reality to fully immersive virtual reality.

The research aims to analyze the characteristics of visual literacy as an incentive for digital social innovation in vocational education. Data analysis was performed using the Inquiry graphics (IG) framework to analyze visual (20 online photography book projects) communication messages and Qualitative Deductive Content analysis was used to analyze textual (interviews with 20 vocational students) messages. QSR NviVo 12 program was used for data processing. The research results reveal features of digital social innovations in students' projects and their significance in professional media education. The limitations of the research are that IG is merely a methodological and analytical tool and that applying semiotic approaches does not necessarily contribute to educational or vocational education theory or theoretical development but only to methods and teaching practice. The study results indicate the study's future directions regarding the binding of digital social innovation with global and research competence.

The emergence of COVID-19 in the U.S. forced organizations to make unprecedented changes at a record pace to include a sharp uptick in the number of employees working remotely. The researchers aimed to explore what factors influenced positive remote working experiences. Data collection consisted of capturing the lived experiences of remote working employees from various industries who conducted electronic journaling and semi-structured interviews with open-ended questions. Data analysis involved qualitative content analysis that resulted in the five themes classified into two categories: (a) business-driven factors and (b) individual-based factors. The business-driven factors include (a) social factors, (b) organizational factors, (c) technological factors. The individual-based elements consist of (a) personal factors and (b) professional factors. From the data analysis, the researchers developed a Conceptual Framework: COVID-19 Remote Working Model. The conceptual model illustrates the potentiality of enhancing positive remote working experiences based on the conducted research.
