The rapid growth of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) has caused tremendous growth in spheres of the world. In the educational and learning sphere, ICTs have the ability to facilitate learning anytime and anywhere. Traditional ways of delivering teaching and learning has been reshaped by Smart Learning (SL). Educators are not the only sources of information and learners can participate in different locations at the same. Smart learning has completely revamped, advanced and professionalized methods of teaching and learning. It establishes learning environments that enable learning without time and location restrictions. The learning environments are adapted to the learner’s needs. The purpose of the study was to design a smart learning model that will be adopted in the Ekurhuleni north district secondary schools. In order to achieve this, relevant literature was reviewed by the researcher and a research model was developed.

This study aimed to test the effectiveness of the 'Kahoot!' gamification program. It is one of the first studies of its kind to be conducted in a university in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). An experimental design was adopted, followed by interview-style surveys. The sample comprised two, randomly selected groups who were undertaking the Grammar module of the English Diploma at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, KSA. One group, allocated to use Google Forms for their assignments, consisted of 32 female students. The other group, consisting of 32 female students, was allocated to use ‘Kahoot!’ (gamification) for their assignments. The results indicated no significant differences between the groups in terms of their grammar development. However, the impact factor was higher in the Kahoot! group, and the students in this group were very positive in describing their experience.

Virtual internships have the potential to offer the same benefits as in-person internships such as technical skill development, knowledge application, and communication skills. However, these experiences are usually pre-planned, designed and evaluated to ensure the pedagogical framework is retained. The COVID-19 pandemic saw a rise in online teaching, online community engagement efforts, and online career development efforts, such as internships, without the benefit of planned, designed virtual experiences. This study aims to show the early mixed-methods survey results from shifting an internship program within a Liberal Arts college to fully online during COVID-19. Results identified and highlighted some struggles students faced, yet showed that, despite COVID-19, students still found value in their internship experiences regardless of them being moved online.

Focusing on the approach for developing professional skills, this paper is dedicated to the University on-line education as a pedagogical tool for material science and solid state physics as well. Two strategies described within the comparative analysis are based on the students tests performed at the Southern Federal University. A remote access to the research laboratory infrastructure allows our approach for the interactive simulations-based learning process with the provision of individual educational programs to be launched. This problem is presently of urgent interests, and applied in material science we have discussed its importance from different perspectives, i.e. to teach X-ray spectroscopy via the interactive software simulation of modern equipment or to perform a research at remote laboratories in a real time. Within this note we conceptually analyse some quantitative data of the learning process for a number of students that formed at both interactive sense-making and learning by doing.

The present study was designed to determine the extent to which political trust in government serves as a judgment heuristic in predicting readiness to comply with governmental restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through an online study of 1,429 respondents, we found that trust in government and the evaluation of government actions during the COVID-19 pandemic were the strongest predictors of readiness to comply with government restrictions aimed at mitigating the pandemic (in addition to the previous restriction-compliant behaviour of the respondent). This pattern of results shows that government-related judgments play an important role in predicting one's readiness to engage in mitigating actions in the future. These two variables seem to be central in terms of uniting all the variables which potentially predict mitigating behaviour: an evaluation of the government’s competence, benevolence, integrity, and the perceived risk of the government’s actions with respect to oneself and one’s family, as well as with respect to the evaluation of economic prospects.

With the increasing importance of e-services in cyberspace, cybersecurity is essential for safety and trustworthiness. This paper presents a cybersecurity assessment model that can be used to determine the current level of protection of e-services and to support its future development. The model is distinguished by its comprehensiveness, flexibility, and usability. In terms of comprehensiveness, the model integrates various cybersecurity measures recommended by international and national organizations and by academic researchers. In terms of flexibility, it structures these measures into the four-domain framework of technology, organization, people, and environment. The model also structures the assessment into levels based on the dimensions of importance, strategy consideration, and practical implementation. The usability of the model is illustrated by its application to three different Saudi organizations concerned with e-services. This work will be useful to researchers for the future development of cybersecurity assessments, and to professionals for practical applications.

The Core objective of this study is to investigate the psychological readiness and online learning collaboration of secondary level students during Covid-19 in Bangladesh. The study illustrates the current state of education in Bangladesh and the importance of reliance on the emotional desire to learn online. The significant finding shows that the students’ psychological readiness has a strong positive association with the online learning environment to ensure quality education. It is necessary to look into the school level student’s mental readiness to bring down the future uncertainty; digital-hostile spite, the student’s emotional willingness for online learning. The study suggests some policies for the resilience and improvement of students' psychological readiness in developing countries, especially in Bangladesh.

The cyberworld is becoming of increasing importance, as its technologies are rapidly progressing and as its useful services are widely expanding. In response, ambitious countries need to establish their own cyberworld strategic directions to maintain an active role in this world. This paper is concerned with developing generic structured national strategic directions for the cyberworld. For this purpose, the paper reviews key sources on the matter, and develop the targeted directions for the future. The key sources considered are associated with the international level, and they include the UN and ITU; the national level, and they include the USA and Germany; and the people’s level, involving people’s requirements and responsibilities. The views were structured according to the five domains of “strategy, technology, organization, people, and the environment: STOPE”. Within these five domains, 18 issues were identified, and subsequently they were refined into 59 cyberworld strategic directions. It is hoped that the outcome would be useful to researchers and planners in the field.

Racial attacks during COVID-19 towards Asian American healthcare workers, the Black Lives Matter Protest, and the #ME TOO anti-sexual harassment movement have caused more healthcare organizations to realize the importance of diversity and inclusion training and leadership coaching for their managers. This study employs an action research and action learning approach of a diversity leadership coaching program using ZOOM. The value of this real-world case study is to create a blueprint that other healthcare organizations with limited resources are struggling with where to start in engaging in diversity and inclusion.

The Algerian Ministry of Microenterprise's action plan, which has been in operation since 2020, aims to support the creation of new start-ups (Ministerial Council, 2020). Indeed, the ministry is working to create a legal, institutional, and functional framework for start-ups, as well as a roadmap for financing these enterprises. In this context, our contribution is to propose the educ-entrepreneur model for formalizing entrepreneurship education in Algerian universities. In this process, the authors have included two key topics to work on: 1) promote educational innovation in higher education; and 2) create concrete projects centered on a key economic sector to encourage the formation of new businesses, thereby promoting local, regional, and national economic development. In this paper, the researchers investigate the implementation of the educ-entrepreneur model at Oran 1 University and present preliminary findings.

The U.S. hospital Ransomware attacks during COVID-19 have highlighted the importance of cybersecurity workers and expertise in healthcare. These attacks are increasing when the US is experiencing a considerable cybersecurity workforce shortage. As everyone becomes increasingly hyper-connected and cybercrime intensifies in both scale and complexity, the need for experts in the field is dire. Innovative organizations realize that they need to tap into new employment talent populations that have historically been overlooked, especially deaf and hard of hearing. This action research study explores a management consulting intervention at an organization with an unfriendly culture for employees with disabilities but in need of workers with cybersecurity expertise.

According to the US Centers for Disease Control, Health disparities are preventable differences in the burden of disease, injury, violence, or opportunities to achieve optimal health experienced by socially disadvantaged populations and minority communities. COVID-19 has had a disproportionate impact on communities of color. Since 2020, communities of color in the US have experienced tremendous uncertainty, fear, and anger concerning trustworthy information about the origins, treatments, and prevention methods regarding COVID-19. This paper explores diversity and inclusion and its connection to health disparities through the kaleidoscope of COVID-19 and through the use of health theories and education solutions developed from the literature.

Increasingly rapid obsolescence is a byproduct of the information explosion. Soon information will double every 12 hours. This should be taken in the context that doubling took place once each century until the 20th century when it occurred within 25 years. This spells danger to the social structure. A way around this dilemma is to learn to stay ahead of obsolescence. One route is through continuous training and reeducation, which includes both formal and informal methods. Neuroplasticity means that one can rewire the brain throughout an increasingly longer life, which points the way toward a method for staying ahead of obsolescence. Knowing how to learn through self-directed learning becomes ever more important, which implies developing metacognition for learning and applying the newly learned material to the new occupation.

This study adopts Wenger's (1998) community of practice (CoP) framework to understand the relationships and professional learning community formed at an information technology call center at a large research university in the United States. Forming CoP in the workplace can facilitate organizational knowledge sharing and improve employee performance. In this study, 14 indicators are used to investigate the phenomena of a community of practice at an IT call center. Data on key features of a community of practice was collected from multiple sources, including on-site observations, surveys, interviews, and documents and artifacts. A social network analysis was performed to reveal the connections among employees at the IT call center. The findings indicate that a community of practice was formed at the IT call center based on the Wenger's CoP indicators. These determining features can be used to evaluate the successful adoption of a community of practice within an organization as a means to enhance informal workplace learning and facilitate professional development.

Scientific advancement had been creating wisdom lag in society that demands quality involvement with science at all levels of life. The rapid growth of industrialization, automation, and allied insecurities across the globe requires people educated in a STEM discipline to focus on hands-on learning with real-world applications accosting a variety of skill sets, scientific might, and creativity. But what challenges are being faced in its adoption? How do overcome those challenges? This bibliometric analysis aimed to find the answer to these questions relating to STEM implementation in higher education along with way outs for improvement. Findings revealed a considerable number of deescalating factors such as socioeconomic status of the students, gender biases, lack of teachers’ understanding of STEM, the insufficiency of resources, and the eventual science anxiety. After deep deliberations over past literature, the authors suggest gradually pushing whole STEM education in a project-based manner, adopting an integrated STEM curriculum, focussing on the informal learning process, and

To address cybersecurity threats that organizations are facing today, there is an urgent need for an interdisciplinary approach in educational programming to prepare the next generation of indispensable workers who are often dispersed, such as law enforcement and military personnel. Extensive data breaches and even low profile but high impact cybercrimes present immense challenges for law enforcement, military, and local government agencies. These agencies, by nature, are some of the primary targets of cyberattacks, and hence, cybersecurity awareness and cyber investigation-related education are crucial for meeting the demanding requirements of their job duties and responsibilities. This paper describes the pedagogy of current educational programs for military and law enforcement toward identifying existing gaps in the adult pedagogy used to prepare the workforce. The paper concludes with a proposed framework based on recommendations on domain-specific topics and pedagogical formats for the most effective cybersecurity learning for these dispersed groups.

One of the most distressing aspects of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic in the U.S. is the lopsided damage that it has triggered to poor communities and communities of color. COVID-19 has emphasized the importance of new approaches to community engagement, community support, and cultural competence related to public health logistics planning, supply chain response, and service of people of color in the U.S. because of past inequities in terms of advance warning, health education, and aid to certain communities. An escape room training experience was used to allow participants from minority communities, emergency response planners, and policy makers to engage each other in a collective learning experience. There was tremendous value for the managers because they were able to engage with culturally diverse participants in a way that allowed them to understand problem-solving from different lenses when they plan and set priorities about community aid and support in future public health emergencies.

In the interdisciplinary co-operation of experts in the fields of technology, hospitality, and pedagogy, a 3D training module was created, which simulates the environment of a hotel reception. Key elements of communication between hotel staff and various types of guests were identified, and variant scenarios of communication situations were prepared. Scenarios are based on the principles of effective simulation. The methodology of training communication skills of hotel employees using virtual reality tools was compiled on the basis of foreign research in the field of using virtual reality in training processes. The tool is a pilot test in teaching tourism workers, specifically for the development of their communication skills in dealing with clients. The paper presents, in detail, a model of virtual reception and methodology of communication skills training, which was verified on students who are preparing to work in tourism, as well as on hotel staff with experience.

Managing projects under conditions of uncertainty requires a fundamental shift in how project leaders plan and execute initiatives. They need to reimagine not just their vision and purpose but adopt new ways of thinking that will allow them to thrive at a time of extraordinary change and disruption. The project manager's leadership style needs to be tailored to mitigate various sources of uncertainty. This study identifies main domains and factors of project uncertainty and synthesizes leadership competencies to address such uncertainty. By constantly evaluating the characteristics of these domains, project managers are more likely to convert “unknown unknowns” to “known unknowns.” It is argued that certain leadership competencies are necessary to find new approaches and achieve an advantage in crisis. Adoption of critical leadership competencies by the project manager is key to move from crisis prone to crisis prepared.

Prioritizing diversity in sports provides perspectives in how transformational leadership and organizational culture are viewed. In contrast to most research within the field of sports marketing, DEI is still a prominent issue. The use of racial, cultural differences, and ethnic stereotypes still demonstrate leadership gaps amongst minority coaching vacancies in sports. As individuals deal with organizational challenges, they need to be able to utilize DEI paradigms to facilitate the resolution of improving athletic culture in the coaching ranks. The purpose of the article is to determine innovative ways to incorporate transformational leadership between the organizations that hire ethnic minority coaches. Although DEI continues to challenge opportunities for minorities and disenfranchised groups, there is a systemic challenge in providing useful tools to integrate DEI tools for supporting the efforts of how sports are marketed in today's athletic environment.

Commonly referenced as corporate citizenship or sustainability, the initial idea of corporate social responsibility (CSR) matured from the 1987 seminal Brundtland Report, which the United Nations is credited for spearheading. The steady progression of CSR highlights the need for organizations to coordinate the fulfillment of legal, philanthropic, moral, and financial obligations to ensure appropriate strategies toward sustainability initiatives and positive behaviors toward environments, the population, and monetary gain. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the causation by which organizations adapt green organizational cultures. Some findings suggest organizational cultures are forced to adopt new philosophies in a changing environment governed by corporate sustainability efforts. These green conceptual models transform human resources (HR) role in changing and creating organizational cultures that influence organizational strategies in ways that support sustainability and influence the organizational impact concerning climate change.

Mass shootings, COVID-19, political partisanship, and natural disasters have made government leadership more challenging and more complex. Unfortunately, the government's current leadership development approaches have been under resourced, ineffective, not comprehensive, and not fully infused with the concept of the public stewardship and public trust. This paper explores an understanding of leadership and its application to government through an exploration of leadership models from emerging research and the literature. The value of this approach is to take a plethora of dispersed complex models and combine them in a context suitable for a smart, needed, and relevant discussion.

Distance education and the notion of ‘university of the cloud’ have been gaining traction across the globe. This study aimed to read and report Indian students’ perception of their distance courses - satisfaction level, problems, and prospects. It followed a mixed-method approach. Data were collected through an online survey among 500 students enrolled in several distance courses following the stratified random sampling technique. Findings revealed students were all set for a shift towards the university of cloud, and the time has come where the country can have an ambitious take-off for well-organized distance education system. Students’ key motivation behind enrolling in a distance course was to prepare themselves for a better career. Correspondence courses were the most preferred mode for distance education among students, the second being the MOOCs. Overall, students were satisfied with their courses although, their perceptions smeared with a few glitches that need appropriate attention. Finally, all these findings were students’ age group neutral.

E-Government in itself requires reorganizing of governance with institutions and organizations with the aim of running them more efficiently. This is done using various applications created specifically for actions in the fields of economics, health, safety, education, etc. These applications are products that are used directly by all citizens. In the field of e-Learning, in educational institutions such as universities, the users of these applications are lecturers and students who are considered to have the highest skills in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Based on this, e-Learning systems in educational institutions can be configured in such a way that tasks and responsibilities are divided into user levels. This would make the maintenance of system not dependent on the administrator only, but on all levels of users. Consequently this makes the whole system more sustainable, decentralized, with low-maintenance. Such a configuration has been running with the Moodle platform at Kadri Zeka University Kosovo (UKZ) for five year since 2016.

Since the spring of 2020, practically all educational institutions have transferred instruction online. However, questions remain about whether online learning is as effective as face-to-face (F2F) one. This is especially relevant in the case of non-formal adult education, as students have competing demands on their time, established learning habits, and their relationship with a training provider is short-term. This paper compares results of students’ evaluation of teaching (SET) collected from two adult learner cohorts of similar demographic characteristics. While both cohorts had English language courses of the same core content and volume, one studied F2F, the other online. A Likert-type questionnaire form is used for the analysis. Analysis of the results from both groups reveals no statistically significant differences in students’ opinions. Moreover, students are consistent in their overall favorable attitude to both learning formats. A very slight preference towards F2F format is detected in some aspects of the course.

In this article we report on a study investigating the perceptions from Turkish High School English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students of using the social media platform Facebook group to undertake a collaborative writing task. Opportunities for these students to advance their writing skills are often limited in classrooms because of curriculum restrictions. This study explored how students in two small groups of three might use their smartphones to collaboratively write a short story outside of the classroom over several weeks. The researchers gathered data from group interviews and online written researcher-participant chats. With minimal support, the students organised themselves enthusiastically for the FB task. Their perceptions of the task were positive, the students feeling comfortable with the FB medium and with each other. Student agency was pivotal in creating an informal social affinity and smart learning space, suggestive of extended writing affordances in other contexts.

In this article, the author provides a definition of the term financial education management. According to the author, financial education management is a process that takes place in many levels of education supervision. The aim of the study is to find out how much the financial education activities in Latvia that were implemented at school and in the country have contributed to the development of financial literacy achievements by comparing the PISA 2012 and PISA 2018 survey data. Schools that participated in PISA 2018 were also surveyed in order to find out the aspects of financial education implementation in the school. The data shows that an increase has not been achieved in financial literacy within six years. Financial literacy is highly dependent on reading and mathematical literacy. Schools use relatively few financial institutions help to educate students in the finance field. As shown the study finds it is important that schools use the education services offered by banks and NGOs as it improves students' understanding of the financial environment.

Concerns about environmental problems due to rapid economic growth have been undoubtedly increased the past few decades. The conservation of the natural environment and the satisfaction of human needs have attracted a lot of attention from individuals to policymakers. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the effects of environmental education, knowledge, information and lifestyles on ecological behavior and sustainability goals. More specifically, the emergence of a possible relationship between environmental education and sustainability and the correlation of lifestyle and individual attitude with ecological behavior constitute the research questions of our study. The researchers conducted a quantitative analysis by collecting data from 116 questionnaires. The results indicate a lack of knowledge diffusion on environment from schools whilst even though people's emotional commitment and attitude towards environment are significantly augmented, their ecological behavior is erratic in particular occasions.

Technology constantly provides tools with an educational potential, such as 360o videos. Despite the growing body of research regarding their impact on learning, primary school students are not a common target group. To fill this gap, the study compared the learning outcomes from the use of 360o videos presented using head-mounted displays (HMDs) with that of 360o videos presented using PC monitors and with printed material, having as a target group 46 students, aged 11 to 12. Virtual tours of archaeological sites was the theme of the learning content. A within-subjects research design was applied. The learning outcomes and students' enjoyment were better in the HMDs condition. However, there were no significant differences in motivation and ease of use. Immersion and subjective usefulness were greater only compared to printed material. None of the above factors had an impact on the learning outcomes. Overall, while it can be supported that 360o videos provide positive learning experiences, further studies will help to better understand their exact impact on learning.

The increasing complexity of the United States healthcare system has compounded the likelihood of mistakes. As a result, the ability to learn smart and adaptive approaches to management have never been more critical. Medical errors put undue hardship on the economy resulting in the loss of billions of dollars. The current COVID-19 pandemic revealed gaps in public health strategies, medical treatments, comprehensive patient safety, and human resources strategy. Implementing human resources and performance management processes that promote safety, safe decision making, and reduce medical errors is critical. Adopting methods used by high-reliability organizations (HRO) may reduce medical errors and improve patient safety. Qualitative focus groups were used to collect data around creating organizational cultures focused on safety. This research aims to improve performance by providing healthcare leaders ability to learn how to smartly adapt with tools to enhance organizational culture, reduce medical errors, and improve patient safety in the age of COVID 19.

Virtual teams have become increasingly common, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Various industries and organizations have transitioned to working remotely, and project management is no exception. Incorporating a dispersed team into the context of international projects further affects the project implementation, creating both benefits and challenges. This study examines the topic of international project management within dispersed teams and focuses on five core challenges, including: 1) language and communication issues, 2) time zone differences, 3) sociocultural differences, 4) motivation and negotiation issues, and 5) political issues. Using the five challenges as a foundation, study authors conducted semi-structured, open-ended interviews with project managers of diverse backgrounds to shed light on their experiences. Key findings from the interviews and scholarly research were utilized to generate best practices for project managers of dispersed teams spearheading global projects.

The research aims to analyze the characteristics of visual literacy as an incentive for digital social innovation in vocational education. Data analysis was performed using the Inquiry graphics (IG) framework to analyze visual (20 online photography book projects) communication messages and Qualitative Deductive Content analysis was used to analyze textual (interviews with 20 vocational students) messages. QSR NviVo 12 program was used for data processing. The research results reveal features of digital social innovations in students' projects and their significance in professional media education. The limitations of the research are that IG is merely a methodological and analytical tool and that applying semiotic approaches does not necessarily contribute to educational or vocational education theory or theoretical development but only to methods and teaching practice. The study results indicate the study's future directions regarding the binding of digital social innovation with global and research competence.

The emergence of COVID-19 in the U.S. forced organizations to make unprecedented changes at a record pace to include a sharp uptick in the number of employees working remotely. The researchers aimed to explore what factors influenced positive remote working experiences. Data collection consisted of capturing the lived experiences of remote working employees from various industries who conducted electronic journaling and semi-structured interviews with open-ended questions. Data analysis involved qualitative content analysis that resulted in the five themes classified into two categories: (a) business-driven factors and (b) individual-based factors. The business-driven factors include (a) social factors, (b) organizational factors, (c) technological factors. The individual-based elements consist of (a) personal factors and (b) professional factors. From the data analysis, the researchers developed a Conceptual Framework: COVID-19 Remote Working Model. The conceptual model illustrates the potentiality of enhancing positive remote working experiences based on the conducted research.

Organizations continuously need to adapt and respond to ever-present technology advancements. Proactivity is a necessity; only those organizations who can pivot when presented with change gain a competitive edge in their respective industry. The most invaluable strategic weapon organizations will have in the face of change is a method to streamline initiatives, conserve resources, and have seamless communication. The modern benefits of cloud-based project-portfolio management (PPM) tools are the solution. This study identifies a gap in the research and knowledge about these modern tools. Extant literature is focused on what cloud-based PPM tools provide, but there doesn’t exist research on how to diagnose an organization’s specific needs and select the appropriate tool to maximize business value. Through a two-phase research approach, this study fills the lack of research on the topic and provides a framework for tool selection which is applicable to multiple industries.
