Global strategy research is rapidly increasing in quantity but is found in divergent literature and disciplines. Now is the time to offer a comprehensive review that identifies, synthesizes, and integrates previous research and highlights knowledge gaps and the way forward. This methodical literature search helped to identify 338 articles in the Web of Science database published until 2018. Using a systematic and in-depth content analysis using bibliometric techniques, the authors reviewed the articles and identified the main theories used and the methodological guidelines in these articles. This review helps to identify significant knowledge gaps in terms of theoretical orientation and core content. The main contributions of this paper are to outline and summarize a multilevel analysis of emerging global strategy literature, integrate and extract potential theoretical contributions in this field, and indicate directions for future research.

The information industry leads the digital revolution and innovation. With regards to what economic impact the development of the industry will bring about, there has been minimal focus from literature. This paper fills the knowledge gap by using a dynamic computable general equilibrium model. The results show the development will rapidly promote economic development and social welfare, promote the reduction of commodity prices and the rise of output by providing higher social productivity. Finance, public service, and some traditional industry (such as electricity) will benefit more when the information industry develops rapidly. At present, the industry development of the information industry is more directed at the service industry and final consumption. This paper implies the information industry can strengthen R&D investment towards supporting finance, public services and traditional industries, such as industrial control embedded software products, cloud computing technology, and emergency communication for traditional industries to increase the income.

This paper investigates the critical determinants for the adoption of mobile commerce (m-commerce) in Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the perspective of managers. A perception-based conceptual model is developed with respect to the technology-organization-environment framework. The conceptual model is then tested and validated using structural equation modelling on the data collected from 513 SMEs in Vietnam. The study shows that perceived benefits, perceived compatibility, perceived security, perceived organizational readiness, and perceived customer pressures are critical for the adoption of m-commerce. As the first study on the critical determinants for m-commerce adoption in Vietnam, these findings are useful for SME managers as well as policymakers in designing policies as strategies to promote the wide development and diffusion of m-commerce in SMEs in Vietnam and other developing countries.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) require a combination of organizational and individual skills to grow more rapidly in international markets. The question is whether there is an ideal combination to compete in the present (exploitation orientation) or to prepare to compete in the future (exploration orientation), and whether managerial cognition plays a role on determining international growth. The analysis of Portuguese manufacturing SMEs suggests that the manager's cognitive systems do not have an overall influence on the growth of foreign sales to total sales (FSTS), but the two cognitive systems (experiential and analytic) have a different influence on international exploitation and exploration. International exploration and exploitation mediate the relationship between the latter variables. This study contributes to a better understanding of the role that organizational ambidexterity plays on the SMEs' speed of internationalization and how the manager's cognitive systems influence this organizational orientation.

This study seeks to study the relationship between market orientation and business performance and to evaluate the mediating effect of adopting a low-price strategy in this relationship in the hotel industry. A sample from the Spanish and Portuguese hotel industry is used. Results show that the effect of market orientation on business performance is positive and direct. On the other hand, the results do not confirm the mediating effect of a strategy based on low-price in the strength of this relationship. Moreover, results indicate that a price strategy based on low-price is negatively related to hotel business performance.

The banking industry has been forced to restructure its processes to get adapted to a more technological environment as a consequence of the changes experienced in the market. Academic literature has paid special attention to the most critical relationship at firms, customers. Customer relationship management (CRM) offers good opportunities to increase efficiencies in this relationship. For this reason, this research analyses to what extent the implementation of CRM systems in the banking industry has offered good results in terms of dynamic capabilities. For that, some dynamic capabilities have been identified after CRMs implementation process has taken place. A theoretical model has been built and empirically validated by means of a representative sample of banking firms applying structural equation model analysis (SEM). Results show how firms, by properly implementing CRM systems, can reach dynamic capabilities. As main practical implications for firms, it is interesting to orient CRMs implementation to reach dynamic capabilities.

Global online sales for products, where many are substantially identical or deceptively similar, are the cause of a growing number of trademark (TM) infringement lawsuits. This research proposes an intelligent trademark legal precedent recommendation system to assist trademark owners to find relevant past cases, laws, and judgments to form legal arguments to defend against infringement. Judicial precedent and applicable laws from the USA are used to construct an ontology of trademark litigation knowledge. The ontology is used to analyze potential infringement cases with similar laws and precedents used to resolve previous legal disputes. The analysis provides a basis for proceeding with legal action necessary to protect a company's brand equity when arguing potential trademark infringement. Using the Python programming language, the precedent-based recommendation system provides a means for continuously updating trademark case data and assists TM owners to quickly identify similar cases to support infringement allegations.

Professional service providers, due to their use of information and communication technology (ICT), could be global players. The market for congresses, conferences, trade shows, and business events attract clients and contractors from around the world. Competition between firms motivates them to apply advance technologies that enable faster and easier cooperation. The aim of this exploratory study was to identify and classify ICT used in knowledge management among professional event service providers. By applying method triangulation (interviews, meta-linguistic coding, analysis of association graphs, and netnography), the authors identified key terms related to knowledge management and technology. Firms differed by type and length of market presence. The technologies used by firms were grouped into five types. The analysis of competition in search engines confirm high scores for technology service providers (i.e., cloud data and beacon).

The significance of sustainability is continually expanding among researchers, policymakers, and decision makers. To improve the efficiency of value chain activities such as manufacturing, distribution, and consumption, an innovative research solution has been proposed: ‘Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) through Information and Communication Technology (ICT)'. Sustainability through ICT is significant for the industry in terms of its sustainable effects on production processes, environment, and community. This research seeks to gauge ICT—as knowledge management—for industries in the successful adoption and execution of SCP. In so doing, potential key ICT-based factors to SCP are identified from the literature and experts' feedback. The present work suggests a decision framework for assessing the interrelationships among and between the ICT oriented factors by utilizing graph theory and matrix approach. Data for this work derives from three automotive companies operating in India. From findings, ‘Governance and Management', is the topmost factor for the adoption of sustainable consumption and production in value chains. The relationship among the index values is further evaluated using Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. This research can facilitate practitioners, government agencies, and customers for a better understanding of ICT-driven factors in managing resources, reducing waste, and improving cost, which would further help in meeting sustainable development goals of the United Nations of responsible consumption and production and innovation, industry, and infrastructure.
