The inaugural ASEAN e-Travel Mart has recently been announced by its organizers, the Tourism Technology Association (TTA), based in Thailand, and the ASEAN Tourism Association, based in Malaysia. This event will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on March 23-25, 2011. The ASEAN Tourism Association incorporates all of the countries in the ASEAN, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. This e-Travel Mart has been created for all ASEAN travel industry professionals, including tour operators, hospitality companies, and hotels, who are looking to expand business within the tourism industry using technology. International travel buyers and travel industry IT experts are also welcome to attend the mart.

Topics covered in the mart will include learning how to efficiently sell and distribute hotel rooms, air tickets, tours, and other travel services through using the latest electronic platforms. Attending organizations do not need to be technology experts, but are expected to be directed toward incorporating smarter technology practices in their organizations. This mart is designed to encourage the ASEAN travel industry to catch up with other travel industries internationally. The first Electronic Standards for the ASEAN Tourism Industry will alsobe announced at this event. More information about this event can be found on their website at www.aseanetm.com/.
