For over 30 years, IGI Global has strived to provide exemplary support to the academic community with a mission that continues to seek to embrace underrepresented researchers and ensure that they too are provided with an outlet in which to share their perspectives and research findings. As such, it has not only provided numerous publishing opportunities to researchers all over the world but has also never turned away any author based on their race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, political affiliations, religions, or other identifying factors. Through the use of the double-blind peer review, IGI Global maintains the idea that the evaluation of any chapter or article must remain centered on the research and the research alone. Whether the author is a man or woman, African American or Caucasian, Catholic or Jewish, homosexual or heterosexual, early career researcher or a Nobel prize winner, we believe that all content must be considered and allow the merit of the research to dictate its publishing eligibility.

Due to this firm stance, IGI Global can proudly tout that it is an inclusive publisher with authorship from every continent and from over 200 countries. Each IGI Global publication is committed to providing equal opportunities to authors from all over the world with editors encouraged to reach out to authors beyond their region of origin and journals to establish inclusive review boards that pull the expertise of a multitude of diverse individuals. While this practice of inclusion is such an important movement in academic research and scholarship today, it has actually caused some individuals in the past to inaccurately paint IGI Global as a “rogue publisher” and/or “vanity press”, simply due to some IGI Global publications including some papers with imperfect English, as will happen when working with non-native English language speakers. Regardless, IGI Global remains honored to work with and establish meaningful relationships with researchers of all demographics and collaborates with authors to ensure that they are able to secure the resources they need to improve their scholarly work.
Unfortunately, this goes against the industry “norm” where euro-centric standards still dominate, creating unfortunate biases and burdening researchers with mandates that specify where they may publish while limiting librarians to rigid standards on what they may acquire. IGI Global remains committed to confronting this approach and strives to dismantle these barriers that are preventing real change from occurring in academia and the publishing industry.
As all industries become more self-aware of the problems facing the dream of an equitable and inclusive society, IGI Global will continue to not only remain vigilant of its own diversity practices, but also of the content it is disseminating in this important field. With more than 330 titles on diversity, equity, and inclusion already published or currently in development, IGI Global is inspired to continue to publish the latest, most innovative solutions to these ever-present problems across all disciplines.
Thus, IGI Global is currently seeking book proposal submissions within the fields of diversity, equity, and inclusion from experts across a multitude of fields/industries who are able to weigh in on these popular topics.
