Dr. Villarreal is one of just 400 U.S. professors and faculty selected for the Fulbright Teacher Exchange this academic year. Each year, only 800 Fulbright participants teach or conduct research abroad, while over 2,000 recent graduates, graduate students, and early career professionals engage in study/research programs or serve as English teaching assistants.
For almost eight decades, the Fulbright Program has supported more than 400,000 students, scholars, teachers, artists, and professionals from diverse backgrounds in studying, teaching, and conducting research abroad. Fulbright program participants are challenged to sahre insights, build international connections, and help analyze and solve global challenges. The program's alumni include 62 Nobel Laureates, 93 Pulitzer Prize winners, 82 MacArthur Fellows, 44 heads of state or government, and thousands of leaders across various sectors.
