Serving as an Editorial Review Board member on both the Information Resources Management Journal (IRMJ) and the Journal of Cases on Information Technology (JCIT), I try my best to ensure that these journals publish high-quality content. As a consequence of these actions and in conjunction with the holistic effort of my fellow Editorial Review Board (ERB) members, we do everything within our power to guarantee that these prestigious journals remain successful and influential. This editorial process is a team effort, with some of the most qualified professionals in the Management Information Systems (MIS) field contributing to this success. It is fitting to highlight their efforts and to demonstrate the significance of what these ERB members do to make the JCIT and IRMJ, as well as the other prestigious IGI journals, products and processes a success.

Being a member on a significant journal’s Editorial Review Board such as JCIT and IRMJ means that I have an opportunity to play the role of a mentor to others in the quality publication process. As I approach retirement, it has become more important to me to try to leave a mark on the MIS discipline. It has become more evident to me that it is important for MIS to have a cumulative tradition that impacts many related fields and not just our own. As a member of these Editorial Review Boards, I have the privilege and opportunity to serve with pride and without prejudice on impacting this cumulative tradition in a positive way through improving scholarly research for myself and for others.

Both IRMJ and JCIT follow the double-blind review process. This process is very significant because it ensures the publishing of high quality manuscripts. Evidence of this can be found in the Scimago Journal & Country Rank which provides good H-Index scores for both journals. This quality indicator is of increasing importance to accreditation agencies such as AACSB. Any colleague who publishes in these two journals can be sure that they have achieved impact, innovation and engagement in the quality publication process.

As an ERB member I join a team of professionals whose responsibilities and duties are to help our colleagues throughout our profession to continuously improve and hone their skills and expertise. As an ERB member I can enable and facilitate these processes through productive and useful feedback on potential submissions. The success of our colleagues and their institutions through this publishing opportunity window provided by IGI is the best promotion for our journals as this will encourage others to seek a similar successful path. Ultimately, being an ERB member influences our profession and colleagues by providing innovative, impactful engagement for both industry and academics.
