Effective Social Media Marketing for Today’s Businesses

By IGI Global on May 24, 2011
Social media such as Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and vlogs, is everywhere, and it is being utilized for increasingly diverse purposes. For companies that are having trouble reaching or receiving feedback from their customers, or that just want to do more to keep in contact with consumers, social media provides an excellent outlet.

In a new article called " Online Social Media as a Driver of Buzz Marketing: Who's Riding?," the authors, Khan Md. Raziuddin Taufique (Presidency University, Bangladesh) and Faisal Mohammad Shahriar (Leading University, Bangladesh) explore buzz marketing today through social media. The authors define buzz marketing as, "an alternative strategy of creating preference and demand among prospective customers." Throughout the article, the authors lay out the potential uses of buzz marketing and social media for businesses. They also describe types of potential customers who will come across their social media outlets and potentially participate and/or become customers, and how to best reach those types of potential clientele.
