By IGI Global on Oct 21, 2013
IGI Global author and editor Constantin Zopounidis was recently honored as The Financial Times' Professor of the Week. An expert chosen for displaying outstanding research in his or her field, the Professor of the Week provides a key term and definition for inclusion in The Financial Times' FT Lexicon online glossary.

The term that Professor Zopounidis chose to define for the FT Lexicon is Multi Criteria Decision Analysis:
“Multiple criteria decision analysis introduces a formal framework for supporting the decision process and improving the decision-maker’s understanding of a problem’s characteristics and the available options.”

Constantin Zopounidis is a professor of financial engineering and operations research at the Technical University of Crete, as well as director of its financial engineering laboratory. He is also a research professor in Audencia Nantes School of Management in France, and senior academician of the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras of Spain (RACEF). As a member of RACEF, Professor Zopounidis joins the ranks of Daniel Kahneman (Nobel Laureate), Romano Prodi, and Joseph E. Stiglitz (Nobel Laureate) who belong to this prestigious organization.

Professor Zopounidis' research and teaching contributions have resulted in several awards and distinctions, including the MCDM Edgeworth-Pareto Award, the highest distinction the International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision Making bestows. This award is given to an exemplary researcher who, throughout their career, has established a record of creativity to the extent that the field of MCDM would not exist in its current form without the far-reaching contributions from this distinguished scholar. See the article Constantin Zopounidis Honored with the MCDM Edgeworth-Pareto Award.

Professor Zopounidis is editor of five international research journals, including IGI Global's International Journal of Corporate Finance and Accounting (IJCFA). IGI Global is honored to have such a distinguished scholar as a member of their research team. For a list of his IGI Global contributions, view Constantin Zopounidis' IGI Global profile.
