Hear Perspectives About OA Publishing From Researchers Around the World

IGI Global's 2022 Open Access Survey Results

By IGI Global Open Access Division on Jan 27, 2023
Introduction
With the rapid growth of the open access (OA) movement, we understand that there has been significant confusion surrounding open science, which is why we deployed a survey to garner feedback about OA publishing from the perspectives of researchers who have undergone the process. We have rapidly increased our involvement in OA (with nearly 4,000 total OA papers from researchers hailing from over 90 countries) to meet the demand of interest in this publishing model as well as stay ahead of mandates, and will continue to provide OA publishing opportunities and solutions to needs expressed in the survey results below.

OA funding can be the most cumbersome element of the OA publishing process. Many researchers experience the same issues involving funding. See below for more on solutions and resources for OA funding.
Resources
  • IGI Global’s Open Access Funding Resources
  • IGI Global also offers the option of crowdfunding, where the payment of the processing charge does not have to come from one single funding body. This concept can be applied to all open access publishing options. Learn More >
IGI Global offers affordable OA processing charges, often 50% lower than the industry standard. Additionally, with platinum OA, authors are not responsible for securing funding as it has already been secured to cover the OA processing charge.
Additionally, authors can also convert their previously published work to open access, which typically enables a lower processing charge, particularly if the publication is from an earlier copyright year. Learn more about retrospective OA conversion of your published works with IGI Global below:
Additional OA Funding Resources include Sherpa Juliet, The Open Access Directory, and SPARC.
To support the demand for credible OA publishing outlets, IGI Global will continue to provide opportunities for all to publish under this model, and we are available to discuss OA publishing and collaborations with you further. Learn more here, and you can view opportunities to submit your research under open access here. We look forward to continuing this dialogue with researchers, funding bodies, other publishers, and libraries alike.
