IGI Global is becoming more active in the open access book publishing movement, as of September 2022, our publishing house has been accepted as a member of
Open Access Publishing in European Networks (OAPEN), a not-for-profit organization based in the Netherlands, with its registered office at the National Library in The Hague. OAPEN is dedicated to open access, peer-reviewed books offering OAPEN’s online library and publication platform, which serves as a central repository for hosting and disseminating open access books, and also sends information for indexing to the
Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB), a discovery service for open access books. The aim of OAPEN is to work with publishers to build a quality-controlled collection of open access books and IGI Global is thrilled to be a part of this initiative.

Fees for open access book publishing vary by the length, subject area, and the complexity of the publication. Editors/authors or chapter authors are responsible for finding funding (which can come from multiple sources such as universities, societies, associations, government, etc.) to pay the open access processing charges.
