The mission of AGOSR is simple, to create an environment that fosters an inclusive approach to the accessibility and innovation of open access research by working with publishers, librarians, and researchers worldwide to cultivate principles, share practices, and to also host and distribute open access content within the global research community.
Melissa Wagner, Vice President of Editorial for IGI Global and a key board member of AGOSR, describes AGOSR as “an alliance of all those invested in the open access movement who champion the idea that everybody should have a voice and a seat at the table when it comes to shaping the future of open access. Through its open access repository, AGOSR also provides a free platform that showcases a wide range of vetted open access research from all over the world, further touting AGOSR’s commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and diversity.”
Many may ask what makes AGOSR unique, here are just a few ways that AGOSR stands out from many other groups out there:
- Offers an inclusive publisher-agnostic open access repository that houses BOTH book and journal open access content.
- Offers a platform for all open access stakeholders to discuss best open access practices, standards, and policies.
- Expands reach and ease of access to open science without limitation.
- Operates as a separate entity without contingencies requiring membership or inclusion in other organizations, directories, or repositories.
- Offers all open access stakeholders opportunities to contribute equally.
- Focuses solely on the merit of the research.
- Supports marginalized communities to be able to produce open access research.
Currently, AGOSR is inviting university presses, libraries, publishers, as well as research associations, societies, and institutions to join in this movement. In addition to benefiting from frequent discussions and news surrounding various open science and research developments and initiatives, members can benefit from having their open access content integrated into the
AGOSR Open Access Repository. If you are interested in participating in this movement and/or having any content integrated into the open access repository, please contact AGOSR
