FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 24, 2014, Hershey, PA – IGI Global, an international publisher of progressive academic research, is pleased to announce a partnership with YBP Library Services (YBP), the academic division of Baker & Taylor. IGI Global will now be utilizing its own award-winning InfoSci® online platform to offer direct access to its extensive line of e-books ordered through GOBI3 (Global Online Bibliographic Information), YBP’s acquisition and collection management interface. This integration will significantly streamline the IGI Global title selection and fulfillment process through the GOBI3 interface, allowing librarians even more ordering flexibility than ever before.

IGI Global Now Offering Direct E-Book Fulfillment Through GOBI3 "Content acquisition has always been a daunting task for our customers," Justin North, Director of Information Technologies and Communication at IGI Global, said of the partnership. "Providing the ability to acquire IGI Global titles directly through GOBI3 will greatly streamline these efforts. We are very excited about providing acquisition librarians with a simple purchasing process; allowing them to direct their focus on finding the right content for their library.”

“IGI Global is an outstanding independent academic publisher in a growing number of science and social science subject areas. We are very pleased to offer IGI Global’s research-based content to our customers through GOBI3," said Mark Kendall, Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations at YBP. "Our collaboration offers our academic customers the combination of respected, quality content and YBP's value-added services to libraries and consortia. Libraries will now have the option to add IGI Global ebooks to their eApproval plans as well as firm order titles in GOBI.”

IGI Global’s InfoSci® online platform contains more than 2,400+ e-books, with a minimum of 350+ titles added annually. The platform is updated continuously as new titles go to press, and offers a number of features including, but not limited to:

  • Customized librarian corner with exclusive administration tools:
    • Persistent URLs
    • COUNTER compliant usage statistics
    • Complimentary downloadable MARC records
  • Liberal DRM
  • XML-powered, full-text search engine, with ranked results
  • Full-text PDF viewing
  • Spell-check and auto-complete search suggestions
  • Multi-lingual user interface
This partnership comes at an excellent time for IGI Global, as the publishing house is currently in the process of a significant content expansion. IGI Global’s Managing Director, Lindsay Johnston, explains, “We are releasing more new content than ever before and extending our reach into all areas of academic research, apart from our traditional information technology focus. This includes the integration of titles that encompass more practical research in engineering, business, healthcare, public policy, communications, and even the social sciences. We are so pleased to have the opportunity to offer our wide range of content, as well as another avenue for e-book selection and fulfillment to libraries.”
