IGI Global Now Offers SOCOpay for Open Access Processing Charges

By IGI Global Open Access Division on Apr 11, 2022
With open access (OA) taking academic publishing by storm, authors often find themselves having to convert their form of currency to that of what the publisher accepts when trying to pay OA article processing charges (APCs) and chapter processing charges (CPCs). IGI Global is striving to streamline the payment process and make it as easy as possible for authors.
SOCOLAR Through our partnership with China Educational Publications Import & Export Corporation Ltd., one of the largest state-owned companies in China that was established in 1987 to meet the demands of foreign academic publications from universities and colleges in China, we are pleased to announce that we now offer SOCOpay (SOCOLAR Pay) as an alternative method of APC and CPC payment for Chinese researchers. This effort further supports our commitment to making OA publishing more accessible to researchers in other parts of the world.
Benefits of Publishing Open Access with IGI Global
  • Affordable APCs & CPCs (much lower than the industry average)
  • Rigorous & Expediate Publishing
  • Networking & Collaboration

What is SOCOpay?
SOCOpay is a convenient and easy-to-use payment system which allows authors located in China to make secure payments for their APCs and CPCs, online in RMB, which eliminates their need to pay in foreign currency.
Features:
  • Quick and Secure Online Payments Upon Acceptance of the Research Work
  • Pay APCs or CPCs in RMB to Avoid Exchange Rates and Other Fees
  • Pay via WeChat, Alipay, UnionPay, or Bank Transfer (mobile banking and B2B transfer supported)
  • Receive VAT invoices for the Full Amount Paid
Those who qualify to pay through SOCOpay and have any further questions on how to pay via SOCOpay, are welcome to contact IGI Global’s Customer Service Department at cust@igi-global.com. This is just one of the many ways that we at IGI Global are expanding collaborations with Chinese researchers, in addition to having opened our subsidiary office Beijing, China - IGI Science and Technology, Ltd., several years ago.
IGI Global has plans to review how SOCOpay could potentially be utilized for authors in other parts of Asia as well as to integrate similar payment processing workflows for authors based in other parts of the world as well. Over the next several months we are committed to making APC and CPC payment processing as easy as possible for our valued contributors all over the globe. We encourage authors to reach out to us with any information they have regarding payment processing workflows that would best suit their needs (please contact openaccessadmin@igi-global.com) and we would love to look at possible opportunities for integration.
*IGI Global OA publications (articles, full books, or book chapters) operate with open access processing charges paid by the author or another funding source or sources (unless waived). Article Processing Charges (APCs) and Chapter Processing Charges (CPCs) are not requested until AFTER the article or chapter manuscript has gone through a double-blind peer review process and is accepted into its respective publication. Authors of rejected manuscripts will not be expected to pay an APC or CPC.
