In February, almost 400 women who are leaders from 15 countries in Africa joined the
UN-backed three-day conference to advance progress, tackle pressing concerns, and find sustainable solutions to issues affecting women and girls in the region. A top priority was to increase women's representation in political and security institutions to meet and exceed the 35% target set in the 2018 peace agreement. The recent book,
Whole Person Promotion, Women, and the Post-Pandemic Era: Impact and Future Outlooks (ISBN: 9781668423646), published by IGI Global, showcases the latest empirical research findings since a time of great precarity in our "digital revolution," old institutions are still counting on women, the planet, and other vulnerable groups to support this transformation, with no clear protection of "whole personhood."
Although COVID-19 seems to be in the recent past now, the consequences of the lockdowns are being borne by societies. The lessons learned from the latter reveal the vulnerabilities of our current socioeconomic systems.
