E-Learning Technologies and the Future of Education

E-Learning is becoming an effervescent topic in educational circles since the fusion of technology and teaching practices. It is simply defined as instructional methods delivered through a technology medium, usually by computer and internet or CD-ROM. Innovative educational technologies are outputting information in the forms of text, streaming audio, and video, building the users knowledge to improve organizational functioning. IGI Global editor and e-learning expert, Dr. Badrul Khan, has over 16 years of experience as an international speaker, author, educator, and consultant in the fields of educational technologies and e-learning. Through teaching and research, Dr. Khan is instrumental in creating a coherent framework for distance education, e-learning, and blended learning.

In a recent interview with Saudi Arabia's Channel 2, Dr. Badrul Khan discussed the importance of progressing towards an e-learning environment. Dr. Khan focused on topics such as how e-learning technologies are allowing us to communicate throughout the world and how using these technologies creates and anyplace, anytime, anywhere learning environment. Most importantly, he made clear the importance of using e-learning technologies because now more than ever, students exposed to e-learning will benefit greatly due the "e" revolution in such environment as e-business, e-trading, and e-banking.
