International Open Access Week 2022 was held October 24th – 30th, 2022. The theme this year centered around climate justice and raising awareness that the current climate crisis has widespread effects that are not endured equally, or fairly, between men or women, rich and poor, or older and younger. These power imbalances also affect a community’s ability to create, disseminate, and use the knowledge surrounding the climate crisis. Openness and the open access (OA) movement can create ways to better share that knowledge and address the inequities that shape the impacts of climate change and the response to them.
Open Access Week is an opportunity for the academic and research communities to continue to learn about the benefits of OA, to share that knowledge with colleagues, and to help gain wider recognition in making OA the “new norm” in research.
OA week was founded in 2008 by SPARC and partners in the student community. IGI Global invites innovative and timely open access research, including research works related to the climate crisis.
