WiLs and IGI Global Collaborate on Title Sharing Agreement

By Emma Baronak on Aug 11, 2022
WiLs, an influential academic library consortium, is currently collaborating with IGI Global on an e-Book Title Sharing Agreement. The agreement is being offered to over 75 institutions that are eligible to participate. Participating institutions gain shared perpetual ownership of all titles purchased on behalf of the consortium. This equitable agreement is made possible with individual selections by the institutions, who will be invoiced individually by the consortia, and will enable shared ownership of the content across participating institutions.
IGI Global will provide interested institutions with one-on-one support including customized title lists, analysis of their IGI Global holdings, and information about their faculty’s titles to assist in their acquisitions decisions.
This e-Book Title Sharing Agreement enables libraries to provide their students and faculty with some of the most innovative research from all over the world on a variety of major subjects, including Business, Computer Science, Education, Social Sciences, with highly focused topics such as Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) and more.
Three Easy Steps for Institutions:
  1. Participating institutions can be set-up with complimentary trial access to IGI Global’s e-Book Collection (optional) September 1st through October 31st, 2022.
  2. Once the trial period is complete, each institution will be provided with COUNTER 5 usage reports as well as lists of titles based on faculty-leadership, or specific program needs to select the titles of interest for acquisition, and institutions can select institutions they would like to purchase on behalf of the group based on the pre-determined title share pricing.
  3. Title selections from each participating institution will be finalized and deduplicated, institutions will be invoiced based on their individual selections by WiLS, and all of the selected titles will be made available to all participating institutions with perpetual ownership by the end of November, 2022.

Additionally, the agreement includes an optional Transformative Open Access (OA) element, allowing for qualifying institutions to consider converting some of their faculty’s published work through IGI Global to an OA CC BY 4.0 license based on their investment level in the title share agreement. Through this agreement, WiLs and IGI Global have come together to provide shared electronic resources, cooperative collection development, aid in furthering OA efforts, as well as provide the libraries within these groups access to e-resources at a better overall value.
Benefits of This Agreement for Participating Members:
  • Trial Access to the IGI Global e-Book Collection (~7,300+ e-Books)
  • Potential for Open Access Support for Faculty's Published Work
  • No Upfront Spend and Voluntary Participation
