Abstract

In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic caused several issues that affected healthcare systems. One of these issues was the lack of critical medical supplies such as ventilators, vaccines, and personal protective equipment or PPE due to the supply chain issues. The lack of critical medical supplies caused a snowball effect that impacted the organization and employees. This case study examines the prevention of supply chain issues by understanding the root of the issue. Although the coronavirus pandemic highlighted the issues at hand, it was not the root cause of the problem. The coronavirus pandemic helped show the holes in the organization's current supply chain strategy, which this research helps to resolve through a series of methodology adjustments and organizational changes.
