Abstract

The woman who fought for the liberation of women in the Indian subcontinent from the state of “other” is Rokeya Sakhawat Hossein (1880 – 1932). Another lady icon can be named in this occasion, Fatima al-Fihri, who, in the Moroccan city of Fez, founded a mosque that developed into the famous al-Qarawiyyin University, which has come to be recognized as the oldest existing university in the world. Many inspiring stories come along such as the one like Haya Faisal's from Pakistan who became a female cab driver for the sake of supporting her family. The issue of subversion or reversal of gaze is addressed by throwing light on Simone de Beauvoir's “Myth and Reality” and Michel Foucault's “Concept of Power” in The History of Sexuality. The chapter finally considers different endeavors of different Eastern women like Rokeya, Fatima, Haya, and the like to show women's participation or treatment of gender roles in organizational behavior, strategic management, and entrepreneurship.
