Abstract

It is shown that sources of research include several groups of documents from unpublished archival materials to memoirs, which only partially compensate for the ability to trace the development of state-church relations. This mainly relates to the field of church legislation, memoirs, and reference and statistical publications. At the same time, one should take into account, in general, a good knowledge of sources on the history of the orthodox church in the 19th-early 20th centuries. The peculiarities of the archival documents under study include the fact that they reflected issues of the economic life of monasteries and churches, prescriptions and orders received in monasteries, and churches from spiritual consistories.
