Abstract

A Black male higher education professor will share his experiences as a faculty leader engaged in teaching, research, and service in a public comprehensive Historically Black College or University (HBCU) and compare it to his previous experience on the faculty of a private Historically White College and University (HWCU). Research that draws on the experiences of faculty of color in higher education and student affairs programs will be offered. Using experiential knowledge, this chapter offers perspectives about the adventures of a Black male higher education professor, ideas on what it means to be Black and a leader in higher education, and the meaningful impact a Black male professor can have on higher education.
