Abstract

Despite the eloquent strives to improve education in library and information sciences, the insidious challenges in preservation and conservation education and training continue to traumatize the world, especially in Africa. This chapter weaves together literature on preservation and conservation curriculum in library and information sciences education in the Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Branch of the International Council of Archives (ESARBICA) member states. The chapter then explores the challenges observed and proposes a sustainable framework for integrating conservation in the preservation curriculum in library and information studies education. The chapter concludes by offering recommendations for improvement.
