Abstract

One of the fundamental requirements of human society is the implementation of a strategy to manage energy usage. One of these techniques is the use of renewable resources. Due to their storage capacity, energy storage systems (TESS) can lessen the instability of renewable resources. There are three types of thermal energy storage: energy stored as sensible heat, energy stored as latent heat (LHTESS), and energy stored through chemical reactions. Because of the high capacity for energy storage and latent heat storage, phase change materials (PCM) have attracted a lot of attention recently. PCM are broken down into three groups: gas-liquid, solid-liquid, and solid-solid. A drawback of PCM is its poor thermal conductivity. Fins in the PCM structure and the usage of nanofluids are two solutions to this issue. Different configuration of fins is T, Y, V, and tree-like. This chapter cover the aforementioned subjects.
