Abstract

This chapter explores the importance of integrating culturally responsive teaching (CRT) principles into online education to enhance student engagement and success. It discusses the challenges of implementing culturally responsive practices in online learning environments. It encourages educational practitioners (including instructors, instructional designers, managers, and administrators) to engage in detailed planning and structured facilitation and to involve students in the process. The narrative invites reflection as it reviews the foundational works of scholars in culturally responsive pedagogy and teaching practices and outlines a framework for creating inclusive and culturally affirming learning environments. The literature suggests ways for educators to strategically utilize technology to foster inclusivity in online learning environments.
