Abstract

This chapter provides practical advice on how to run tests with eye tracking devices in a laboratory environment and underlines some potential problems that the use of eye tracking equipment may create in test design. Examples of test settings used in design projects for gaze-based systems help the researcher decide what kind of procedure to use in their study. In addition, the authors discuss how to apply eye tracking in usability evaluations to augment understanding of the user experience and how to utilize gaze data when studying users’ behavior.
