Introduction

This book aims to presents an overview of sleep disorder based on machine intelligence methods and its applications, to learn and explore the latest advancements, developments, methods, systems, futuristic approaches, and algorithms towards sleep disorder and address its challenges. It Provides an effective platform for students, academicians, engineers, researchers, Clinical psychologists, psychiatrists and sleep medicine practitioners in this area. This book will also include a brief analysis of machine and artificial intelligence (AI) methodologies for a biomedical signal and images that help in healthcare diagnostics especially related to speel disorders. Moreover, various signals originated and sensed from the human body such as the electrocardiogram (ECG), electromyogram (EMG), electroencephalogram (EEG), electrooculogram (EOG), photoplethysmogram (PPG) signal, computerized tomography (CT)/ magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)/ positron emission technology (PET) images and more will be discussed. These signals need to process to extract useful health and physiological information. This book concisely provides brief details for recent developments in this field, such as; the different neural network and machine learning techniques in various areas of Biomedical Signal Processing, an analysis of Biomedical Signal Processing and noise reduction approaches time-frequency analysis, the effectiveness of various feature extraction techniques, recent advances implementation of new algorithms and the future scope and challenges in healthcare. This book will update the recent theory and implementation of signal processing techniques and will also present new representation, classification, and identification algorithms for data prediction and analysis on feature characteristics. Chapters will discuss recent and future advancements in various feature extraction techniques and machine learning and AI methods as well as providing an overview of future research challenges and directions.

Objective

The objective of the book to compile advanced research and development approaches to plan the best healthcare specifically in physiological and cognitive disorders. This book focused on the AI techniques for sleep disorder analysis; where approaches are utilized by the various mathematical models on various bio-potential signals or images. There are more than 80 different sleep disorders, some of the major Sleep problems including Insomnia, sleep apnea, Restless leg syndrome, Hypersomnia, Circadian rhythm disorders, Parasomnia. Good sleep is necessary for optimal health and can affect hormone levels and weight. We aim to present an AI-based overview of assessing and treating sleep disorders that apply to a diverse set of patients. Alongside. practical information regarding special considerations for the assessment and treatment of sleep issues in specific medical conditions.

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before January 6, 2021, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by January 20, 2021 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters are expected to be submitted by March 21, 2021, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.
