Call for Chapters

Proposals Submission Deadline: May 15, 2022
Full Chapters Due: August 1, 2022

Working in an interdisciplinary manner is a long time pursued, but a difficult goal of science and mathematics education. Interdisciplinarity in science and mathematics can occur when connections between those disciplines are identified and developed, for example, through a theme that have the potential to mobilized knowledge or procedures from both. These connections could be expressed in the educational policies, curriculum, or in the science and mathematics teachers’ educational practices, when they create common educational resources and deliver instruction in co-teaching, for example. Sometimes those connections are scarce, but in other moments full integration is achieved. Contributors for this book will have the opportunity to present results of good practices and interdisciplinary educational approaches in science and mathematics. This book aims to present a broad range of approaches for all educational levels, from kindergarten to university.

The goal of this book is to provide a compilation of current research and good practices about interdisciplinarity between science and mathematics in education. The publication of this content is relevant because interdisciplinarity is a desired goal in education and many efforts are being made to create connections between science and mathematics, in different educational levels. Therefore, the publication of current research on this issue could contribute for the professional development of educators who want to explore different levels of connections between science and mathematics. The book also includes pedagogical experiences that can be useful for science and mathematics teachers, teacher’ educators and preservice teachers.

Target Audience

The targeted audience includes: In-service teachers of all levels; Preservice teachers; Teacher educators; University professors in the STEM areas; Collaborators of science museums; Master's and doctoral students in education; Other stakeholders in education.
