Introduction

During last year, all over the world, educational institutions were confronted with the confinement caused by the pandemic crisis of COVID19. Due to this, academic activities were provided mostly by remote teaching and learning solutions. The transition, in an emergency remote teaching and learning, raised some challenges, namely regarding technical, pedagogical and organizational issues, but also constraints in what concerns integration, online class methodologies, tutoring and assessment of students. Furthermore, it seems that pandemic episodes can increase in the future. Therefore it is important that higher education institutions prepare themselves to deal with this scenario, promoting an in-depth reflection about the future challenges to this post-pandemic era and to possible future crisis.

Objective

This book will be very useful to support the decision of creating and promoting an online education as a business strategy for a higher education institution by the sharing of possible business models. This book will be also very important for institutions that decided to create online courses because it will help them in the definition of the pedagogical and technical strategies due to the sharing of online best practices. This book will provide a collection of different approaches to online education (pedagogical, management, socio, technical) in the perspective of the future education environments. The identification of good practices for the future education will help those that are willing to enter this market to know where to start, what to do, and what can be the ROI. The instruments presented in this book can be apply in different of contexts. In line with the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development and with the orientations of UNESCO (2020) to te education in a post-COVID world, this book aims to create knowledge about the challenges to education in HEI in post-pandemic period namely introducing some changes in the curricula, in the assessment practices, in the learning/teaching process, and in a macro perspective in the impact in the politic agenda for HE.

Target Audience

The target audience of this book comprises professionals, researchers, teachers responsible for education institutions, education policy makers, entrepreneurs and managers of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) working in the field of online education and in particular, those who were involved in the remote learning, covering various disciplines and applications, e.g. education, engineering, management, health, communication sciences, administrative sciences and information systems, adult education, sociology, computer science, and information technology. Moreover, the book will provide insights and support professional concerned with this new approach of teaching and learning. This edition will also promote the rethinking of teaching process in potential crisis situations (public health, climate change…). Moreover, this edition will contribute to the definition of policies in HEI within the scope of new forms of teaching and assessment. It will also contribute to the development of specific training for teachers and also to the student preparation for online higher education.

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before April 20, 2022, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by May 4, 2022 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.Full chapters are expected to be submitted by July 3, 2022, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at https://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Developing Curriculum for Emergency Remote Learning Environments. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-blind peer review editorial process.
